WATCH: FAST, the world's largest radio telescope in China

Cable News Network (CNN) posted the 70-second video above on their Facebook page about Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), the largest single dish radio telescope in the world.

FAST was built in Pingtang County, southwest China's Guizhou Province.

On July 3, the installation of telescope has been completed and planned to launch this month, September 2016, China's state-run Xinhua news agency reported.

Reports said that the telescope could detect radio signals and potentially signs of alien life from distant planets.

"China's latest telescope will be able to look faster and further than past searches for extraterrestrial intelligence," Douglas Vakoch said as quoted by Katie Hunt in an article for CNN. Vakoch is the president of METI International, an organization dedicated to detecting alien intelligence.
