San Miguel beats TNT in Game 6, claims 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup title

The San Miguel Beermen are the 2017 PBA Commissioner’s Cup champions after beating the TNT KaTropa 115-91, in Game 6 of the best of seven series, on Sunday, July 2 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Alex Cabagnot was the Finals MVP, his first, after having 20.3 points, 5.8 assists, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals throughout the series. He recorded a triple-double performance with 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

The Beermen shot 51% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc throughout the game.

TNT also struggled with an offensive flow with a 15-3 first half deficit in assists, while, Jason Castro only having 13 points and 6 rebounds in Game 6.

Troy Rosario led TNT in scoring with 21 points, while Pogoy added 16 markers on 7-of-14 shooting.

The Beermen won with a 4-2 series lead over KaTropa after their wins in Game Two, 102-88, in Game Three, 109-97, and in Game Five, 111-102.

San Miguel declined to give TNT the chance to extend the series to a deciding Game 7 and claimed the franchise’s 24th championship overall and 5th in 3 seasons.
