Do you use Facebook app? How about Snapchat? Would you be interested in this new Snapchat-like app from Facebook?

A report from the Financial Times reveals that Facebook has been creating a video-chat app dubbed "Slingshot" internally. The app, just like Snapchat, would allow users to send a photo or a short video message that automatically deleted after being seen.

Slingshot could reportedly be launched as early as this month, the FT reported Sunday.

What Is Snapchat?

Snapchat is a mobile app you can download to your iPhone or Android smartphone, which you can then use to "chat" with friends through photos, videos and captions. You can sort of think of it to be like texting with pictures or videos. - About.com

Last year Facebook failed to acquire mobile messaging startup Snapchat after founders Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy rejected the approximately $3 billion offer.

Facebook has been making several acquisitions in recent years. In February, the company acquired WhatsApp for $16 billion and purchased Instagram for $1 billion in 2012.
