The 44 members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) who were killed while fighting the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in Mamasapano town in Maguindanao on January 25, 2015 are being remembered as a hero.
The PNP, thorugh its Facebook account, has uploaded a video tribute to salute the Fallen 44.
The PNP-SAF assault team raided the hideout of Malaysian terrorist Zulkifli bin Hir alias Marwan in Mamapasano, Maguindanao.
According to a television report, Marwan had been killed in the police operation that led to deadly clashes between elite policemen and Muslim rebels.
The other target of the operation, Filipino terrorist Basit Usman, reportedly managed to escape.
Aside from the 44 PNP-SAF members who died in the clash, 12 other police officers were wounded in the incident.
