Free TV Networks to Broadcast Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Fight

ABS-CBN, GMA-7 and TV5 signed a historic collaboration to air the May 2, 2015 (May 3 Philippine time) mega-fight of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.

The three biggest television networks in the country together with Solar Sports announced that they will air on free TV the fight of the decade, dubbed as "Battle for Greatness."

The announcement was made in a media conference Thursday, March 26 at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Pasay City.

It was reported that Solar has paid $10 million for the Philippine television rights of the fight between eight-division world champion Pacquiao and undefeated pound-for-pound king Mayweather to be held at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

According to report, Solar Sports has also the cable rights and will be showing it on pay-per-view via by Sky Cable and Cignal TV, while the radio blow-by-blow coverage will be exclusive to GMA’s DZBB. The bout can also be viewed in SM Cinemas nationwide.

Solar Entertainment CEO Wilson Tieng arranged the multi-network telecast and according to him, "Manny himself played an important role in putting this thing together."

"Maraming-maraming salamat sa GMA-7, ABS-CBN, TV5, at Solar Sports dahil sa pagkakaisa nila para maipalabas sa ating mga kababayan ang fight na ito," Manny Pacquiao was quoted in a GMA-7 report.

The Pacquiao vs. Mayweather fight will be aired simultaneously on free television on slightly delayed basis starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 3 2015.
