President Benigno 'PNoy' Aquino III on Tuesday has declared September 25, 2015 (Friday) a regular holiday across the country in observance of Eid’l Adha or Feast of Sacrifice.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) recommended that the observance of Eidul Adha be on September 25, 2015. The declaration was made through Proclamation No. 1128, s. 2015.
Eid’l Adha (also known as Eid al-Adha) or Feast of Sacrifice is an Islamic festival to commemorate the willingness of Ibrahim (Abraham) to follow Allah's (God's) command to sacrifice his son Ishmael. Muslims around the world observe this event.
Eid’l Adha is one of the two greatest feasts of Islam, the other being Eid al-Fitr, which is also a regular holiday in the country.
This year, Eid’l Adha falls on a Friday, giving Filipinos another long weekend.
Classes are suspended during regular holidays while employees are paid in full even if they do not report for work, and paid in double if they do.
Here's the Proclamation No. 1128, s. 2015:
