Ginebra survives rally to book semis berth, eliminates Alaska, 109-104

Justin Brownlee made a pivotal 3-pointer late and finished with 29 points to carry Barangay Ginebra over Alaska Aces, 109-104, in the quarterfinals of 2016 PBA Governors' Cup.

LA Tenorio had a big game, scoring conference-high 32 points with six rebounds and four assists for Ginebra.

Alaska was down 26 points in the third quarter before rallying within one in the fourth quarter. LaDontae Henton scored beyond the arc to make it 104-105 with still 31 seconds in the clock.

With one-point lead, Brownlee banked in a triple to extend the lead to 108-104.

In the next play of Alaska, Calvin Abueva was fouled shooting three but missed three crucial free throws. Brownlee rebounded the ball, then Henton was forced to commit a quick foul. The import of Ginebra split his charities to hold on for the win and secured a spot in the semifinals.

Henton led the Aces with 27 points and 15 boards, while Abueva finished the game with 17 points in the losing effort.
