PAGASA: Low pressure area spotted off Zambales, may develop into tropical depression

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA)
has spotted a low pressure area (LPA) 370 km west northwest of Iba, Zambales that may develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 to 48 hours in its weather advisory at 11 a.m. today (June 11).

The weather bureau says that the spotted LPA will bring cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms over Bataan, Zambales and Mindoro and is also expected to develop into a tropical depression outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

On the other hand, in its thunderstorm advisory issued at 1:45 p.m., PAGASA said that a thunderstorm is affecting Metro Manila and nearby areas like Cainta, Taytay, Angono and Binangonan in Rizal; Los Baños, Calamba, Liliw and Cabuyao in Laguna; and Sto.Tomas, Tanauan and Talisay in Batangas that may last for two hours and it may affect other areas of Rizal, Laguna and Batangas within the next hour.

"All are advised to take precautionary measures against heavy rains, strong winds, lightning and possible flash floods. Keep monitoring for updates," PAGASA said.
