Gilas Pilipinas finishes 4th place in 39th William Jones Cup as it used its advantage in speed against a taller team and ended a 90-82 win over Iran in their 9th game in the tournament on Sunday, July 23 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Gilas started with guns blazing and put away its sixth win and three loss record in the 10-nation, nine-day event ruled by Canada.
Mike Myers scored the team high of 21 points and 11 rebound, Matthew Wright added 20 points and Christian Standhardinger had 13 markers and 4 boards.
Most of the young Gilas members of the team are bound for the SEA Games on August while Jio Jalalon, Roger Pogoy, and Matthew Wright are also set to play for the Gilas team to the Fiba Asia Cup next month.
Canada and Lithuania finished with 8-1 records, but the former was declared as champions by virtue of the winner-over-the-other rule.Video Highlights
