Jalalon, the player who snatched the only 3 pointer of the team led with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting with 3 rebounds and an assist.
Import Mike Myers finished with 18 points and 17 boards while Christian Standhardinger added 16 and 5 boards off the bench.
Kiefer Ravena had 8 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds, while Matthew Wright, who has been a leading scoring contributor this tournament, was limited to a 4-point production.
Philippines made its biggest run in the final three minutes and breaks 17-point Korean lead at 49-66 to just four points at 69-73 on a follow-up dunk by import Mike Myers with 2:11 to go.
However, Korea’s veteran forward Oh Se Keun stepped up and nailed back-to-back lay-ups to keep the Philippines at bay, 77-69, with 1:14 left to play.
Thus, free throws by Korea in the closing seconds buried Gilas once and for all.
Gilas will face Iraq on Thursday, July 20 at 5:00 PM.
