After defeating the Team A of Chinese Taipei, the Gilas Pilipinas came up with a another victory over Team B, 93-82, in the 2017 William Jones Cup on Monday, July 17 in Taipei, Taiwan.
Matthew Wright led again the Philippines with his game-high 21 points on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc.
With his best game so far with Gilas, Mike Myers recorded a double-double with 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting and 14 rebounds.
RR Pogoy contributed 15 points, while Jiovani Jalalon added 13 markers, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, and a steal.
Kiefer Ravena registered 10 points, seven assists, two steals, and a block.
Ying-Chun Chen answered with 17 points for Chinese Taipei Team B. Kyle Barone notched 16 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
Chinese Taipei grabbed a 20-18 lead after first quarter. The teams tied at 44-44 at halftime.
Philippines went on a 9-0 run to open the third quarter, and gained the lead 69-62 with one quarter remaining.
Taiwan answered with a 11-5 run in the fourth period to cut the lead down to one. But, Wright and Pogoy answered with three-pointers to start another run, and Gilas ran away with victory at the end.
