The Gilas Pilipinas dropped their record to 2-1 with a 84-68 loss to the Australia, who remain undefeated in the first round of FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian Qualifiers.

Roger Pogoy beat the buzzer as time expired in the first quarter to tie the scores at 19-19.
Inspired by thousands of Filipino supporters watching the game at the Margaret Court Arena, the Philippine national team took a 30-25 lead in the second quarter before the Australian made a 12-2 run to lead by seven at halftime.
In the third quarter, three three-pointers from Cameron Gliddon helped break the game wide open and gave the Boomers a 63-49 lead.
Gilas struggled from the free-throw line. The visitors was seven out of 19 from the line, while the Australia made 25 of out 32 from the charity. The Boomers also dominated the boards with 50-30 advantage in rebounding.
Gliddon finished the game with 16 points. He made four of six shots from the arc to lead the Australia to a victory. Mitch Creek had 12 points and 11 rebounds. Angus Brandt added 13 points, while Kevin Lisch chipped in with 12 points.
June Mar Fajardo led the visitors with 15 points. Andray Blatche was limited to 8 points and 7 rebounds, going 3-of-11 from the field.
A win over Chinese Taipei on on February 25 at the Margaret Court Arena will confirm Australia’s place in the second round of Asian Qualifiers.
Gilas Pilipinas will return home to face Japan on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.The scores:
